Applying the second coat too early will result in streaks, peeling paint, and uneven color. Hi Aaron, Primer is not formulated to stand up to the elements and should be topcoated within several weeks to ensure proper bonding. If left uncovered for an extended period of time, primer will tend to deteriorate and chalk, which could prevent future coats of paint from adhering properly.
Experts recommend leaving a minimum of two to four hours of drying time between each coat for best results. Primer should also be sanded before the paint goes on the wall; for a top-notch job, sand between paint coats, too. All you have to do really is, scuff down the clear coat with grit then you can lay your base coat and clear coat right on top of that. Waiting 24 hours is best for oil-based paint and primer.

With reaction on Primer and Celly, I bought from a reputable place "Jawel" as a fair few on here have bought from them so I should not have any problems. Sure they would not sell me something that does not go together. I'm sure I asked for High Build primer on the phone but got regular primer delivered. I have a few tins of Holts High Build primer here so can use that to help build up just in the couple of spots then give it a final coat of the original primer to finish as the Celly will have the same type of primer to stick to, if that makes any sense So far primer coat is spot on apart from a couple of low spots from decals and repairs, could not see them before primer so glad I did primer fully.
After all the prep work is done and primer is on will it be ok to spray colour next week, anything I need to do extra like scotch pad the surface?
